Youth

In an effort to reach the teen-agers in our community, we have also established a Youth Program. This program encourages the participation of children from elementary to high school age to participate in cultural and social activities that are not overtly academic, but are culturally and socially enriching.

In the past, these programs included workshops with adults in various careers talking with youngsters about their jobs and childhood. Judges, police officers, teachers, lawyers, doctors, social workers all took part in lively discussions with young people. On another occasion, a costume party was held and young people played games identifying famous Black inventors, musicians, writers, artists, etc.
